The Angolan group Bartolomeu Dias (BD) was one of 25 companies awarded in the sixth edition of the Africa Economy Builders Awards, one of the biggest economic events at the continental level, which aims to distinguish the main "architects" of the African economy.
The President of the BD Group Board of Directors, Bartolomeu Dias Domingos, attended the ceremony on behalf of the company, having personally received the distinction and sending some words of encouragement to the African entrepreneurial class. The head of the group invited businessmen to awaken their attention towards a balanced economic development of Africa, which, in the opinion of the manager, should include the use of the numerous varieties of natural and mineral wealth that the continent has.
"Our continent has it all, as raw export, but this is not enough, while we don’t implement the transformation of these same raw materials into finished products before they are exported towards other continents that need them," said the businessman, quoted by Angola Press.
The ceremony of the Africa Economy Builders Awards took place on May 1th in Abidjan, capital of Ivory Coast, bringing together some of the great figures of African economy. Among the participants there were the Senegalese Babacar N'diaye and the Rwandan Donald Kaberuka, respectively former and current chairmen of the African Development Bank (ADB). The BD Group is a holding of Angolan capital and law, founded in 1990 and consisting of 22 companies.
With the aim of targeted commercial approach, the BD group is structured in different business channels, which determine its greater specialization. Employing over 3,000 employees, the company's assets are estimated at about 400 million dollars, covering various sectors such as civil aviation, Industry, Construction, Hospitality, Real Estate, Information Technology, Transportation, Logistics, Private Security and Trading.
